About the Artist :
Andre LeRoy Davis has served as a Hip-Hop Historian for over thirty years using illustrative Art to provide a visual record of the world of Hip-Hop. He has created artwork for Bad Boy Entertainment, Def-Jam, Mad Magazine, Marvel Comics, MTV Networks and TOPPS Company, Inc. to name a few. Andre has written for publications such as Vibe, Rap Pages, XXL and HipHopDX. He also wrote and illustrated The Last Word column in the preeminent Hip-Hop magazine, and most notably for “The Source Magazine” for almost two decades. Andre’s original illustrations have been on display across the country including at The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, The Schomburg, The Fullerton Museum in California and The Brooklyn Museum of Art. Beyond being an artist, Andre is a writer, curator and Teacher who continues to push the envelope artistically in all directions and always gives back along the way.
